Starting a nw GVG guild part 1
After being in some guild, I decided it was about time to open a friendly GVG guild. I asked friends to join and set to recruit new members. So I went spamming HA and RA for members. I got quite a few and soon We had 12 members in the guild. I scheduled the first GVG at 19:00, no one objected. When 19:00 came we had only 4 people in the GH. So we waited some, and no one else came, so we got some guests and started GVGing. The next day at 19:00 only 3 people appeared. And the day after. So I said to myself, maybe we need more players in the guild. So I , set again to recruit players. Soon we had 16 members and I scheduled the next GVG. Guess what ? Only 3 people came. Now I ask you that: Why do people join a GVG guild if they dont want to GVG ?

why do you not ask them? rather than coming here and creating yet another thread about yourself wanting to gvg / learn to gvg / get gvg players that you seem to spam frequently

It may interest some people. Many people have walked the path I'm walking and faced similar things, many more will follow. I think it may interest the ones to follow and maybe other that have been there would like to share thier stories. As for you, if you dont like my writing you dont have to read it. After all this is what a community is all about.

Maybe recruit active people next time? Just boot them out if they don't turn up. Or invite people you actually know instead of randoms from RA.

Maybe instead of getting a random group of morons get a group of motivated perhaps even talented people that want the same as you do: gvg.
Clearly you invited people that don't give a rats ass about the guild. That has to change. There's plenty people out there so start with some heavy requirements. Also, be strict on inactivity. If people suddenly disappear for a long time without leaving a message there is nothing wrong with kicking. Just make sure you talked it through with your guildies. But barbie is right. You need to talk to your guildies, not to random people on a random forum. |

because RA scrubs are perfectly suited for any sort of PvP, especially GvG. ^^

The guild is a friendly guild, so kicking people is out of the question. It is just no the way I run the guild.
I recruit them for a "GVG guild" so why did they apply in the first place ? This is not a guild that will help them in HA or TA or PVE, just in GVG (groups for other matter may form, but they are not what the guild is about). I also dont take anyone, just the ones that are interested in GVG and have certain rank, and show enough understanding of GVG. |

They joined your guild because they were guildless and needed a new home. They just want a hall+cape

You've owned your own guild by recruiting random people from a place like RA.
The only way of redemption is to kick those (the vast majority) that do not play with you, and to recruit some quality players after that. Not kicking anyone is just sealing your guild's fate. |

Casual usually indicates that people are free to play on their own terms, which is what they seem to be doing here.

I'd strongly suggest looking for people on different forums (guru, gwo, teamiq, etc.) instead of randomly getting them in RA/HA.
There's always people asking to join a GvG guild somewhere in there and you can make a thread saying you're looking for people too (in the appropriate section, not here!) The quality of players will vary depending on forums (like on teamiq there's some good players looking for good guilds, on gwo it'd likely be much more casual with people that need to learn more than already being good), but since you don't seem to care much atm you don't really lose anything by asking and looking everywhere. At worse if they're not happy with the guild they'll leave. But getting random people in RA and HA is a very bad way to start a guild. As Masamune said, most of them were likely simply guildless people that wanted a guild and thought something like 'oh GvG could be fun' but didn't really care as long as they had a guild. |

You will never find good peeps in RA, TA, or HA. It simply will not happen. Guru isn't a great source either sadly . Best bet is to start as an HA Guild, and work up. Try QQ or iQ forums.

Lose the "friendly" element. The idea of a GvG guild is to play to win. Friendly teams do not win I'm afraid. You need to choose a team of core players. Once you've chosen this team, you will bond as players, and will eventually be able to predict how the others will play.
Forming a guild from scrubs in RA and HA won't get you far. I know people have said this before, but you need to choose players who are as interested in playing GvG as you are. You MUST kick the PvErs you recruited in RA, because they are after all, people who are only dabbling in PvP as a pastime. |
